I chose this method primarily because I wanted as a relaxed and empowered experience as possible.
Hypnobirthing helped reassure me that I had nothing to fear, that labour and delivery was not something to just get through in order to have a baby, but the process itself was something to enjoy. And it was.
Looking back on my birth experience I feel confident that I experienced in the best way possible and my initial goal/plan to be a relaxed Mama during labour and delivery with a happy, healthy baby and a happy, healthy postpartum body and mind was reached.
Chitra is an exceptionally warm and experienced teacher who put us immediately at ease and she has loads of practical information to help us understand the Dutch system. She is really proactive and incredibly helpful and you know that you are in very good hands. Yes, I would definitely recommend Chitra’s HypnoBirthing class and have already!

My mother has always been an advocate for holistic and non-interventional approaches to health and healing in general and that has largely influenced me as well. Needless to say Hypnobirthing was an easy choice when we were looking for birth preparation classes. Chitra’s classes were highly recommended by a friend and I got in touch with her right away.

My husband & I come from a culture where ‘mothering the mother’ starts right from the beginning of pregnancy. The expectant mother is cared for by a community of close family members and friends. And here we were thousands of miles away from family, missing all that warmth and secure feeling. Back home, the idea of preparing for childbirth is quite new and we are simply told to be positive and not ‘think too much’ about labor etc., I was doubly sure that approach will not help us here where we would have to deal with it all by ourselves.
We believed that information will be our greatest ally and set out to educate ourselves all about birthing. To that end, Hypnobirthing was the perfect choice. Reading Marie Mongan’s book was a life changing experience. I went from fearing childbirth to embracing it with lots of love. I learnt to trust my body and baby to do their job. The breathing and relaxation techniques and the positive affirmations that I practised over the last few months helped me to go in to Zen mode whenever I wished. I was in a beautiful state of trance during my contractions. My mom and partner were simply amazed at how calm I was through all that pain. The fear in Fear-Tension-Pain was almost never there and this state of mind is what really helped us in maintaining our composure during the last few days before our boy arrived (He was born 11 days after his EDD) and also during what turned out to be a challenging labor. We survived a 12 hour induced labor without pain relief and this was only possible because of Hypnobirthing.
Chitra is so passionate about babies and birthing. She exudes high levels of positivity and enthusiasm. That’s the only reason we could survive 3+ hour sessions on busy workdays. I went in expecting to learn the basics of labor and ended up falling in love with the whole idea of birthing. I thoroughly enjoyed my birthing experience despite all the complications that we ran in to. We are eternally thankful to Chitra and her classes for giving us the experience of a lifetime.
Chitra came recommended by my friend and I was very happy with her course – she is a warm person, makes you feel very comfortable and whole course is intimate, personal and enjoyable. What is more important, she delivers information about the birth so I knew what to expect and how to deal with it – even my husband who knew nothing about labor felt very confident afterwards. That what I value the most – at the end, I was no longer scared, I had no doubts, I learned through the course that I could trust my body – at the end my birth experience is really beautiful one!

Chitra is patient, open minded and kind lecturer. She provides practical advise on how to welcome your baby in peaceful and relaxed way, meanwhile explaining the birth process from more common/medical perspective. Even the usually critical Dutch guys got on board after the first session.

Having met Chitra at the International school fair, I immediately knew that I definitely wanted to do her course for the birth of my second child. I totally believe that we shouldn’t be afraid of birthing, and if we know exactly what’s happening at all stages and are mentally prepared, our bodies can do what it needs to do. Thankfully, if it doesn’t we have the best care possible.
My husband and I highly recommend this birth preparation course for parents-to-be. Not only did we have the birth that we wanted, but the support from Chitra, which continued long after was invaluable. Thank you Chitra for sharing your passion and love during this very special time.

A friend of mine talked to me about this very nice and enthusiastic person preparing women for birth. I therefore contacted Chitra and she sent me some material. I have to admit that the name, “hypno-birthing”, sounded a bit too hippy at the beginning, then, when I read about the main concept of following mother Nature and your own body predisposition to give birth, I thought that was the way I wanted to go. I then discussed with my partner and he agreed that following a natural method based mostly on self-relaxation, which was a good way to bring our child into the world.
I found the information I got from the hypnobirthing classes to be very helpful. During the classes and the fruitful discussions, Chitra explained us with enthusiasm the entire process of giving birth and caring for a new born baby. She helped us to understanding the mechanisms (muscles, hormones, blood flow..) that allow the process to unfold. And, mostly, she explained to us how listening to your body and letting the nature flows would have make all the difference in the world. My birthing was not easy. It was long and tiring. But I could face it with calm and knowledge. I did not panic because I knew what to expect. I would recommend a HypnoBirthing class to everyone who wants to get the tools to make of her birthing a positive experience.

We chose to make a Hypnobirthing course to prepare for our son’s birth, because several friends of mine told me their amazing experiences of a calm and natural birth. Furthermore, a friend gave me the book to read and it made me very interested. We wanted to experience a natural and calm childbirth and thought HypnoBirthing would help us to achieve this.
HypnoBirthing helped us a lot by understanding what actually happens in the female body during labour and birth. After the course we felt prepared and open to whatever way the birth would turn out to be.
We can absolutely recommend Chitra’s HypnoBirthing class to every pregnant mother. She took a lot of time to explain everything, was very understanding, extremely helpful and has a huge knowledge.

My husband and I took Chitra’s Hypnobirthing course last year for prep for the birth of our 1st child. She makes the course very interesting and personalized. It was thanks to her course that we had a very positive birth experience. She’s a very kind and passionate person, that really cares about the parents she works with. I would definitely recommend her course.

Chitra helped us to prepare for what you cannot be really prepared 🙂 During the course, my partner and I became partners in birthing process as well. We understood what will be happening and got our preferences crystal clear. That helped us stand up to the hospital protocols that didn’t make any sense. To put it into context: my membranes released in week 30. Due to that, the doctors were pushing for an earlier induction (in week 37) even though everything was in order. Since I felt our kiddo wasn’t ready yet, I stood up for what my intuition was telling me to do – to wait. Chitra listened, cared and encouraged me to do so and I am forever grateful to have had her by my side, sharing her knowledge and support. I experienced a 4hrs, easy and painless birthing. It puts a smile on my face when I think back to that Tuesday morning. Thank you, Chitra

We welcomed our daughter (our first child) in November 2015. The biggest point of attention in our hearts/minds was having a normal delivery which God did gift us. Around mid of our pregnancy journey, we were faced with low-lying placenta which could have derailed our normal delivery hopes.
In this background, while searching for some pregnancy classes we landed up at Chitra’s Akriti which used HypnoBirthing as a method to guide the Pregnancy journey. And from bottom of our hearts we owe a whole lot to Chitra who guided, wished, supported, motivated, calmed, helped us with visualization … I can go on and on with adjectives !!
The HypnoBirthing course not only gave us the confidence, but also helped us remain calm and plan for all eventualities.
Chitra gave special skype sessions when we informed about low-lying placenta and gave us the confidence that it can move aside well into 38-39 week and we didn’t need to take decision about having a C-section. She started the first session on the same day when we informed her, take that for being proactive !!!
Special mention also goes to the Visualization techniques of breathing, child moving through birth-canal, having the presence of mind to be aware what is happening and at the same time be relaxed/calm. This helped immensely during actual labor, when the Doctor mentioned that it could take 7-8 hours for active labor. But actually it took 2 hours, as my wife listened to the HypnoBirthing audio and allowed her body do its work.
Our daughter came to the world at 02.33 in morning and we were talking to Chitra till 12, basically Chitra was there through our whole Labor journey like an angel guiding, motivating, calming, helping us throughout.
In short, we are sure that without Chitra’s HypnoBirthing aid we would not have been blessed with Normal birth which I guess all Expecting Mothers dream of. And I guess the above text gives you an idea how Chitra could help your pregnancy journey. Chitra’ guidance is highly recommended for a life-time experience which should be enjoyable but in current healthcare environment somehow has been projected as dangerous and stressful experience.
Wishing every expectant couple out there a wonderful pregnancy in welcoming your kid(s)

We chose the Hypnobirthing course to prepare for our childbirth because I wanted a more natural and calming birthing experience with none or very little medical intervention. Hypnobirthing offered a way for this to be possible through the different breathing techniques, meditation and visualisations. It gave me confidence and reassurance to look forward to my daughters birth rather than fear it. It allowed Rod, my husband to be part of the birthing experience and support me when It was needed which was invaluable. Chitra’s advice, experience and support during and after the course only added more value to our experience to which we are very grateful!
We would recommend Hypnobirthing to friends and family because It gave us a better understanding of the body’s natural abilities during child birth and how capable the female body is. We had a wonderful home birth experience and for those where this may not be the case Hypnobirthing can also provide you and your partner the reassurance you may need at that time. Chitra’s course offered all of the above and we were able to learn, prepare and enjoy it in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. It felt very personal and we made good friends!

We choose HB because I was very nervous about the first birth. I have a history of hyperventilation and needed something to help me relax and stay in contact with myself. HB is a way of relaxing, without being very alternative medicine like. It might sound like hypnosis, but is really about focussing and relaxing and feeling the calmness.
I would definitely recommend the course, even for a medical birth. We had a emergency c-section, and it helped us a lot to be able to focus on the doctors and not panic with all the stress involved. It gave us a good feeling that we tried everything, but were not overwhelmed with all medical intervention. It felt good that the men got so much more information about the role they have to perform. For us it can even be more promoted in class. Men are the brain so the women can relax and focus on their birth. Chitra really included them in class. Also, she created a trusting and relaxing environment for everyone to focus & participate.
