HypnoBirthing®

Parenting brings to mind a picture of a peaceful and serene mother-child bond. Childbirth however brings up visions of pain and writhing as a mother brings forth a new arrival into the world. Popular culture and direct anecdotes from mothers reiterate this impression So much so that childbirth is one of the most dreaded experiences for a woman. Childbirth is a natural process and is not even unique to human kind. We have built so many mental visions and practices that childbirth is seen as difficult. But this does not have to be the case. We have a collective wisdom of thousands of years and by capturing this wisdom, childbirth can return to its place as a simple, natural process period.HypnoBirthing® helps do just that. HypnoBirthing® – The Mongan Method – is a unique method of relaxed, natural childbirth education, enhanced by self-hypnosis techniques.

HypnoBirthing® prepares women to use their natural instincts to bring about a safer, easier, more comfortable birthing. The method places the right emphasis on pregnancy and childbirth, as well as on pre-birth parenting and the consciousness of the pre-born baby. As a birthing method, HypnoBirthing® is new age but at the same time is also encapsulated grandma’s wisdom. HypnoBirthing® – The Mongan Method was developed by Marie Mongan in the USA for her daughter and friends in the 80s. In the 50s, Marie Mongan was deeply influenced by the theories of Dr. Grantly Dick-Read an English Physician. Dr. Dick-Read believed that fear and tension was a major factor for labour pain and that the pain could be reduced if fear and tension could be controlled. She employed these theories in her own childbirth experience and found that childbirth was not something to be feared but could be a natural and calm experience. In 1989, Marie Mongan published ‘HypnoBirthing® – a celebration of life’ the bible of HypnoBirthing® – The Mongan Method.
Simply put, HypnoBirthing® – The Mongan Method prepares you to be free of tension and pain during childbirth.
At the core of HypnoBirthing® are a set of several deep relaxation techniques, suitably paced instructions to build your confidence and special calm breathing methods. During birthing, a mother can draw on these stay calm and relaxed and work with nature instead of fighting pain or fearing pain. HypnoBirthing® – The Mongan Method shows you the optimal birth positions and also helps you practice them so that you are ready. A key element of HypnoBirthing® is that it teaches Body toning exercises and practice so that your body is ready physically for childbirth.

HypnoBirthing® – The Mongan Method is not just meditation and exercises but it prepares you for childbirth in a holistic manner. It starts with explaining to you why labour does not have to hurt. It moves on to teaching you stress reduction and bonding techniques. It helps you to plan your birth preferences and also prepares your birth companion to be part of the birthing journey. Childbirth is natural and by being in harmony with nature and your inner self, childbirth can be a natural, calm, gentle experience. HypnoBirthing® – The Mongan Method equips you and your birth partner with the knowledge, expertise and belief required to have a natural, calm gentle experience.
